LEBANON, Ind. — Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita took to social media to slam the Lebanon Community School Corporation for its policy allowing a boy to use the same locker room as girls at Lebanon Middle School. This comes after a REAL News Central Indiana story uncovered the testimony of an 11-year-old girl who spoke about the issue at a Lebanon School Board meeting earlier this year.
“More insanity in our schools. The media said this wasn’t happening in Indiana.” Rokita wrote in posts to Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter), sharing the RNCI story. “An 11-year-old shouldn’t have to go through any of this. Biological boys shouldn’t be allowed to change in the girls’ locker room or vice versa. It’s not a difficult concept. It’s common sense. Thank you (RNCI reporter) Clifton French… for shedding light on this situation.”

***Editorial Note *** Leftist activists have since taken to the Attorney General’s social media accounts to attack him for his stance to protect children. RNCI encourages its readers to counter those attacks to let the AG know most people support him for standing up for the rights of parents and children.
11-YEAR-OLD SPEAKS OUT
“I’m here to discuss the matter of a male being in the female locker room.” The Lebanon Middle School student said as she started her speech to the school board at its January 16th, 2024, meeting. “Imagine this is you — you’re an 11-year-old girl who is coming into school thinking that they’re in a safe environment. You go to PE to get ready in the locker room and you see a boy in there. The first time you saw them, you panicked. Do I change in front of the boy? I feel like I’m doing something wrong. Do I take my shirt off? Do I take my pants off? He is doing so, so I think I should. I see him standing there, in his underwear. That was the first time I saw a boy half-naked — in a school that’s supposed to be safe.”
“I wanted to cry. I felt so uncomfortable. The only thing I’m asking for is that all students can change in a locker room that is matched to their gender.” The girl continued. “If they don’t feel comfortable changing, they could change in a private space alone, making others feel comfortable in their locker room. If I was your daughter and I came to you and said I saw the outline of male genitalia for the first time in the locker room at a school that is supposed to be safe, I would hope you would be proactive and find a safe place for all students, not just one percent.”
Following the child’s remarks in January, the school board made simply thanked the child for her remarks and had no discussion about the issue brought forth.
RNCI recently submitted a public records request to Lebanon Community Schools for their policies regarding bathroom/locker room use, pronoun and name changes and what are known as “gender support plans.” As of publication, the request has yet to be fulfilled.
An RNCI review of Lebanon Community Schools’ student handbooks for elementary, middle and high schools do not provide any direction in regard to gender/sex and locker room/bathroom usage.
