BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — REAL News Central Indiana has learned Indiana University Bloomington is offering gender transition treatment to students at its campus clinic. According to the IU Student Health Center website, “the Health Center not only continues previously prescribed gender-affirming hormone treatments, but also can initiate them.”

The website also lays out a pay schedule, making the treatments seem affordable to impressionable youth.

RNCI has learned the student clinic began offering the damaging treatments to IU students in 2019 when it started “The Gender Affirming Care Team.” According to a news article written by IU, the care team is led by physicians and counselors employed by the university who appear to be working hand-in-hand with the IU LGBTQ+ Culture Center, which appears to be assisting students in paying for the treatments.

“Currently we are seeing more transgender students than other queer students seeking our emergency financial aid,” IU quoted the LGBTQ+ Culture Center Director Doug Bauder as stating.

The Gender Affirming Care Team is led by Doctor Laura Knudson and counselor Brad Stepp. Counselor Brandon Muncy also helped develop the program, but has since left to develop similar programs at other universities, like Loyola.

RNCI reached out to IU Communications Director Mark Bode to determine how many students have received this treatment, who is paying for it and if parents who pay for their children’s schooling are being secretly billed. As of publication, we have not received a response.

RNCI called the clinic posing as a student looking to hide his gender transition from his parents. Clinic staff gave RNCI’s undercover reporter several tips on how to hide the information and trick his parents into paying. Staff also described another potential taxpayer funded option involving a grant with the University. RNCI will publish the audio from that conversation in a story tomorrow.
