INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — REAL News Central Indiana has obtained emails showing Marian University promoting a racist event that excludes only white students. The emails were sent to all medical students and recent alumni by the Marian University Student Government Association Diversity division’s Student Government Diversity Executive.
“To get the year started off right I am hosting my first Welcome Back Mixer/Kickback event for students of color (Non-Caucasian/Non-Hispanic white).” Student Government Diversity Executive Troi Graves wrote in one grammatically error ridden email. “I hope you will attend and we can make more connections, safe spaces, and new friends.”

Graves doubled down in a subsequent email in an attempt to appease other intersectional groups.
“For this first event, I am trying to create a safe space and larger network for students of color.” She stated. “In the future, look out for my emails for other events that will include more groups like LGBTQ.”

RNCI reached out to Marian University’s Vice President of Enrollment and Marketing Communications Brad Wucher with the following email:
I’m reaching out to get comment from the University regarding an event being put on by the Student Government Diversity Executive. She sent the attached emails out using MU emails. Does the University condone the segregation of students based on color and race? Is the University sanctioning the event?
As of publication, RNCI has not received a response.
