NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Health promoted “chestfeeding” in promotions for a breastfeeding conference scheduled for August 1st in Noblesville.
In a tweet sent out by the IDoH, the government agency dismissed motherhood by claiming “men” could also nourish children with “chest” milk.
“Join @statehealthin next week at the 2023 Breastfeeding conference for a day of learning, networking and connection! Hear dynamic speakers and take valuable knowledge back to your community to support chest/breastfeeding families.” The social media message read.
The tweet received widespread backlash before it was eventually deleted. The Daily Signal’s Tony Kinnett retweeted the promotion 6 days ago while asking Republican Governor Eric Holcomb to address it. That same day the IDoH removed the tweet.

Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch sent out a statement condemning the language as well.
“We don’t advance the cause of women’s rights or improve their level of healthcare by diluting our unique place in society.” Crouch said in a statement. “I find.. the term ‘chestfeeding’ insensitive and demeaning.”
