“Nonbinary” teacher works to suppress story about forcing kids to use her “chosen pronouns”

Published on

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — Despite openly bragging on social media that she was forcing her students to use her “chosen pronouns” of they/them and Mx., REAL News Central Indiana has learned a self-identified nonbinary teacher at Noblesville West Middle School actively worked to suppress the reach of a recent story outlining her efforts.

RNCI has received a screenshot from an anonymous source that shows Emily Crapnell reported the story that had been posted to an popular Facebook group. The post was eventually taken down by either Facebook or an administrator of the group, drastically reducing the story’s reach to the public.

RNCI published the original story about Crapnell on July 18th. Crapnell, who is a 7th grade science teacher at Noblesville West Middle School, forced her students to call her Mx. Crapnell instead of Ms. or Mrs.

“Call me Mx. — When I returned to school this fall, Mrs. and Ms. felt different for me.” Crapnell wrote on her instagram page in October of 2022. “I am embracing my nonbinary identity in the classroom… because it feels right.”

At the time of the post, Crapnell was teaching at Westfield Middle School. However, by the spring, she was teaching at Noblesville West Middle School where sources tell RNCI she continued to force children to use her “nonbinary” pronouns. According to sources, parents and students who did not feel comfortable with using the pronouns and asked to be moved from Crapnell’s class were told the only way they could be removed is if they transferred out of the school entirely.

It turns out, Crapnell’s use of pronouns isn’t the only controversial stance she takes. According to her social media accounts, she also supports radical anti-gun movements and Critical Race Theory. In 2020, she called all white people racist. She also pushed the “racist baby” narrative.

Crapnell taught at Noblesville Schools from 2012 until 2019 when she took a hiatus to raise her children. She returned to the classroom in the fall of 2022. In 2017 she was awarded to prestigious Apple Distinguished Educator Award. She was the Science Department Chair at Noblesville West Middle School from 2016-2019.
